How to partner with SIM through "Giving"...

SIM exists by faith

This means we rely on God's provision

World mission is the task of all Christians. There is no opting out. God calls some to spend their lives abroad. Some are called to support the front-line workers by their giving. God calls us all to pray. Whatever our role, spreading the good news of Christ is our mission.

The apostle Paul had a strong sense of partnership with the people in the churches. Take his letter to the Philippians, for example. He speaks of their 'partnership in the gospel' - PHIL1:5.

And in the fourth chapter he calls the gift they had sent their 'sharing with me'. In Paul's mind, we are all in it together. So giving is sharing in the task God has given us.

Our gifts fulfill our gospel vision by enabling someone else to go, or a project to be completed. Elsewhere Paul inspires us with the impulse of gratitude. He reflects on Christ 'who loved me and gave himself for me' GAL 2:20. And he calls believers no longer to 'live for themselves but for him who died for them'.

He points us to the example of Jesus Christ who 'though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich'  2COR 8:9.

...So why give?

   How does this work?

Almost all of our funds come from gifts - loving, committed and often sacrificial. The General Fund receives interest on funds invested and benefits from legacies and bequests.

Behind all this are the prayers of God's people - praying that the God of all the earth would move people to give. If people don't give, the work we do will stop.

 Where does the money go?

SIM's financial policy aims to ensure the most effective use of gifts. Through it, those who send and those who are sent become partners in the ministry of preaching the gospel and establishing the church around the world. Any funds allocated to a specific ministry or project are used for that purpose.  SIM family.

Gifts can be given towards:

 1.Missionary Support

This includes funds for daily living, medical expenses children's education, housing, retirement provision and travel to and from their country of service.

 2.Specific Projects or Ministries

Donors may send gifts marked for use in a specific ministry area or project.

Such funds are always used as designated.

 3 General Fund Gifts

Gifts to the General Fund and unspecified gifts are put to work in a place of special need at the discretion of the mission. They are also used to cover the cost of the general administration involved in sending and supporting missionaries, specific projects, and encouraging people to get involved in mission.

 How can you help?

There is a need for financial backing for every missionary, in every country, and in every ministry. If you are not currently aware of a specific missionary/mission family or project, SIM has missionaries in Africa, Asia and South America and would be happy to suggest a particular missionary, project or ministry,  to you if you would like to designate your gift in that way.
